Welcome to the Florida A& M University Chapter of United Faculty of Florida
United Faculty of Florida (UFF) is the organization for higher education faculty and professionals in Florida. As you know, in our profession, there are many things we can accomplish as individuals such as, writing lectures, teaching courses, advising students, conducting research, writing scholarly articles and books. But there are others we cannot accomplish alone and that includes negotiating for wages, salaries, and benefits.
On the FAMU campus, collective bargaining contracts are negotiated by FAMU UFF. In addition, FAMU UFF supports faculty rights, “excellence with caring”, the achievement of our economic security, and provides you with the opportunity to join in the decision-making process.
Membership in FAMU UFF protects your rights as a faculty member by providing you with three basic services to guarantee legal representation in employment-related and private matters. These are:
- Employment liability insurance policy. It provides an attorney at no cost to the member and liability protection up to $1 million per occurrence.
- Attorney referral program. This entitles members to two free 30-minute consultations on real estate, wills and estates, domestic relations, adoptions, consumer protection and traffic violations, and guarantees discounts on further legal work.
- Grievance representation. More than 95% of all grievances have been resolved at the campus level. FAMU UFF stands ready to take grievances to final and binding arbitration to protect your rights.
- There are other benefits such as Florida Education Association and American Federation of Teachers memberships, discount loans, health and auto insurance and free financial planning services.
